Mary Violet was not just a grandmother, a mother, or a friend — she was a burst of colour in everyone’s life. Her laughter could fill a room, and her quick wit could lift even the heaviest of days. With a mischievous sparkle in her eye, she had a way of making people feel instantly at ease, as if they’d known her forever.

Known affectionately for her ever-changing taste in sofas — a new one, it seemed, every week — Mary had a gift for turning her home into a place of warmth and welcome. She believed that comfort wasn’t just in the cushions, but in the company and conversation shared upon them.

But above all, Mary had a heart of gold. She gave freely — of her time, her care, her humour, and her love. She taught us that kindness is never wasted, that joy is worth chasing, and that the measure of a life well-lived is the love you leave behind.
